Heard so long ago that even the ocean of time
Left it behind to recede from our memory?
Waves will always howl meeting rocks
Like madness lives in its rhythms,
Like nightingales will always call
Whether men remember Philomela or not;
The cries will always accuse,
Reminding some of violence and cruelty,
Others of compassion and nobility. (2)
